RMTT #7

21 Oct

Happy Random Mumma Thoughts Thursday, dear readers. It was a day of sunshiney goodness here in Melbourne. I’m feeling sunshiney, too. Good weather will do that to me. Are you the same?

Last week, you may recall my original idea for RMTT was torpedoed by the baby without boob. For the record, that little experiment had been going well for three days, seeing Zee settling in his cot without a breastfeed a little better each time. Until, that is, he awoke on the fourth day with a temperature threatening 40 degrees celsius. So blah, blah, blah – and we start again.

But back to last week’s RMTT. I was feeling a bit soft in the head, I think. My kids had been making me crazy and I thought, why not use this moment when all I really want to do is reflect on their ability to be a pain in my arse and instead, reflect on random baby loveliness. Because there is so very much of it on which to reflect.

So, using some visual aids from my own private collection, I give you –

Random Little Peeps Loveliness

1. Baby feet – tiny and pink and lovely. Sigh. This pair belongs to LD. Is it just a movie cliché that, post-birth, the first thing to do is count toes? Or did you do it? I was just so thrilled to see this little person who’d been hiding within me that I wouldn’t have cared if he had 27 toes! Well, initially. I think it may have bothered me eventually……

Perfect 10 (4 not shown)

2. Baby hands – again, tiny and pink and lovely. But bearing surprisingly sharp nails. Tiny little weapons that are near impossible to trim. Oh, but the cuteness!

Baby Om

 3. Elbow dimple – oh please, tell me this doesn’t make you just want to take a bite?

Nom Nom Nom

 4. Baby cheek – is there anything softer or more squishy? I am constantly, constantly pressing my cheek against Zee’s. It so incredibly pillowy and delicious.

Squeeze!

 5. Toofs! – there’s something bittersweet about baby getting their first teeth because it is the first very real sign that they are marching steadily out of their babydom. And, of course, if you’re still breastfeeding, it’s like juggling knives.

Yes, I bite!

6. Boob smoosh – oh, how I adored gazing down at the little face, milk drunk and  passed out in my bosom. This is LD’s tiny, tiny head buried in my massive, massive boob.

Could never hold his drink, that one.....

 7. The Crash – I won’t sleep, I won’t sleep, I won’t – I’m out.

What's not to love?

Oh, lovely baby loveliness. If I had Angelina’s wealth (and her army of nannies), I would have a zillions bambinos too……

    Ahhh the baby goodness…. Heavenly…

And no not a cliche’ – with all three of mine (out via c/s) i asked Paul if he’d counted all fingers and toes…and did they have any giant birth marks or something on their face??? Yes very odd – and like it actually would have even mattered if they did. But it was something i obsessed and worried about. Crazy hormonal Mumma.

And yes – i REALLY wanna bite that elbow!

I always press my cheek up against Banjo’s too. I just love his cheeks & don’t get me started on his thighs… Eeeeeeeek, so hard not to bite.

Keep up the good work Little Mumma

      Thanks Tash. xxx

The cheek squish is one of life’s sweetest gifts! And yes, chubby baby legs are like drumsticks to me! I just wanna chew on them. 🙂
